MY MOTHER, MYSELF AND THE ARTIST watercolor on clayboard 06, from a dream SOLD Welcome to Stow Studio, 2011! I am currently revamping my site to make it more user-friendly and uploading more recent work, so stop back soon!   I majored in studio art at the State University of New York at Oneonta in the 80's. With a background in traditional watercolor, I currently also paint expressions of the inner landscape of the personal and collective Soul.     In 2007 and 2008 I attended week-long visionary art intensives with Alex and Allyson Grey at Omega Institute ( see the Alex Grey link), and in 2008 and 2009 I completed my training in Peruvian-based energy medicine ( see the Four Winds link) at Omega. Both new endeavors are in the pursuit of accessing the unseen energy world and bringing it to visual form for individual and collective healing.     The word METAPHOR literally means “transformer, the crossing over from one state to another”, and has been described as “a physical picture indicating a spiritual condition”. They are messages of deep truths. Metaphors as such arise spontaneously from deepest places in ourselves, and appear not only in our dreams, but come to us in physical form, both individually and collectively, in synchronistic ways. The occurrence of metaphor is seen largely as a right-brained, intuitive, feminine event, and so could be read as manifestations of and messages from the Goddess, herself a metaphor for the Divine Feminine. As metaphor, swimming implies being immersed in the unconscious yet with the head above water, bringing the unconscious to awareness; hence the theme of my current visionary work, which I call, "Swimming With the Goddess".     This year so far, I am exhibiting in Cooperstown Art Association's annual "Essential Art" and received the 'Carefree Gardens' prize. "Essential Art" runs from May 6 through June 3rd. I am also included in their annual invitational show, "Fur, Fins & Feathers", running June 10 through July 8. I will be exhibiting in Stagecoach Run Arts Festival in Treadwell, NY and the Art & Soul of the Catskills Arts Festival August 6th, location TBD. I am planning on participating in the Chesapeake Bay Plein Air Event July 20th.
